Mystical Visions: What Are They and Where Do They Come From

Many of us have had mystical visions during meditation, while in an altered state of mind, or in a near death experience living church youtube channel where do these visions come from? A person in a NDE may be clinically dead, but his or her mind is still “functioning” as it maintains a “weak connection” or parallelism with the body. In this unconscious state, literally between life and death, a person may have many powerful, dreamlike experiences.

Once, while nearly dying in Nepal from a chronic case of blood dysentery, I literally felt I was leaving my body. I was not afraid, though, only curious about what was going to happen next. Everything was dark. No bright light or singing angels. Suddenly I heard my secret, personal mantra being recited to me inside this dark cosmic womb.

It was as if my mantra was breathing my mind back into my body. Literally. I had become one with the cosmic breath my mantra symbolized. It was being sung to me by the cosmos itself. When I woke up, I was greeted by a doctor sitting by my primitive bed, who said: “I am glad you came back. I thought we had lost you.”

People who leave their bodies after being diagnosed as clinically dead, have-after returning back to life-reported seeing and communicating with “higher beings of light” or “vast libraries of knowledge.” But when these experiences have been analyzed, the libraries they have seen can better be described as pictorial representations of Cosmic Knowledge.

These libraries or higher beings do not really exist, rather they represent the way an individual translates the incoming knowledge or wisdom from the “Cosmic Mind” or Akashik Records in a “holographic” fashion. In other words, the libraries were “literally built out of knowledge.”

University of London physicist David Bohm, one of the world’s most respected quantum physicists, and Stanford neurophysiologist Karl Pribram, one of the architects of our modern understanding of the brain, believe that the universe itself may be a giant hologram, quite literally a kind of image or construct created, at least in part, by the human mind.

This is not very different from how my Indian guru explained that “this universe is simply a mental projection of the mind of God.” Wow! According to yogic philosophy, Cosmic Mind or God is the real creator of the universe, and the human mind interprets or experiences what Cosmic Mind or God creates. Hence, we are in constant communication with God all the time.

We may thus assume that the cause of our internal, mystical visions and voices are of at least two kinds: (1) Psychic projections by an individual, or (2) an individual’s mental response to the cosmic intelligence of Cosmic Mind or God.

Author Michael Talbot, who has popularized the concept of the “holographic universe,” explains how many researchers now believe that the miraculous appearances of Virgin Mary are “hologram-like projections” created by the collective beliefs of the human race. These observations echo the yogic idea that ghosts are hallucinatory creations of a concentrated and fearful mind. These “ectoplasmic creations ‘ are so “real” that they can even be photographed. And, in fact, Talbot writes that photographic reproductions of many of these apparitions do exist.
